It’s that time of year when the Christmas and Winter markets start popping up around the country. I made a decision, due to my own time constraints, to not do any markets or fairs this Winter except for one – the Somerset House Christmas Arcade. The ever popular Handmade in Britain have their own curated section of the arcade, and a selection of my prints will be available on display, and to buy. I’ve had a sneak peek of some of the other designer makers whose work will be available, and it looks like a cracking line-up. The market opens today, and I’ll be checking it out this weekend myself, so stay tuned for a more in-depth post on the entire gift arcade…
So Christmas is coming! Or so the shops and department stores seem to want us to think. You’d think they’d wait til November at least but they’re so excited they just can’t help themselves. Myself, I am, as ever, running a little behind those well-organised retailers, but I can tell you that a new 2013 version of the City Avenue wall calendar will be available in coming weeks.
In other news… if you live in or close to London and fancy seeing some of my prints up close and personal, then come along to Old Spitalfields Market on 10th/11th November. I’ll be personally manning an Enclosed Spaces stall that weekend, as part of We Make London’s section, and will have as many prints on me as I can squeeze in. Spitalfields is a great market, and worth a visit any weekend.
In other news… with an increasing number of designs popping into my head over the past months, I finally put pencil to paper (followed by laser to acrylic, and pliers to silver, and glue to.. etc.) and will shortly be launching my first collection of necklaces for my new jewellery brand, Fletching & Nock. With plenty more ideas rolling around up there, this will be only the first of many pieces available. I think I can safely say that if you liked my Geometric Landscape print collection, you will like this jewellery line.
The ‘official’ launch date will be 21st November, so head on over to the website that day, and it’ll be just in time to pick up something different for your Christmas parties (or Christmas gifts, if you’re feeling a little more altruistic). If you’re champing at the bit to check out the jewellery I will also be offering pre-launch sales of most of the collection at Old Spitalfields Market on Nov 10th/11th (as mentioned above) so do come down and check them out. Any big updates I’ll also share on my Enclosed Spaces blog, Facebook page and Twitter, but as Fletching & Nock is essentially a whole new brand I recommend going over to the website and signing up to the newsletter to be kept in the loop on the launch and any new releases.
So yesterday was the We Make London christmas fair, and Enclosed Spaces first art fair ever! It turned out to be a fun day out, and the time flew by. It was good to meet a few other stall holders and, of course, the general public who were out for their Christmas browsing. There was a varied range of some really lovely pieces being sold by other stalls so a great shopping day out, I’m sure.
If you happen to be in the area this December I recommend you stop by the Battersea Arts Centre who are hosting an outdoor Christmas market. Along with a couple friends who came visiting, and my very helpful stall assistant, we stopped by after the fair for some sustenance. With oysters and champagne, seasonal cocktails, sausages, pulled pork and cakes a-plenty there’s enough to keep you gorging yourself til the New Year. On our visit our libations included some robust mulled wine, and cochinitia pibil from the Mexican stall which, according to one Los Angelean, is the best Mexican food he’s had in London, so high praise indeed! The sausage stall was also raved about, so if you’re feeling peckish and in the area it’s the place to go.
And finally, new products are on the way any day now! There’s been a few Coming Soon signs on the product page recently. The prints are done, but product shots are still needed. Now the fair is over I will be working to get my newest products online and on sale in the next day or two.
I’m very happy to announce that Enclosed Spaces will be at We Make London’s Christmas Fair this year. Drop by the Battersea Arts Centre on Saturday 10th December to see a great range of handmade products from over 80 designers.
I’ll be selling the current collection of screen prints available on this website, along with a few new designs including a print especially made for Garden Organic, and a 2012 wall calendar.
