Summer break’s over

Hampstead Heath in October

Hampstead Heath in October

So not only has this summer had more than it’s fair share of hot days, but it appears to be taking over most of autumn. It’s already October (a shock to us all, I’m sure) but the temperatures here in London seem to be only just starting to drop, and the trees still have a tight grip on most of their leaves.

However it’s clear summer is over, and with it my little hiatus. In case anyone noticed the blog has been a little quiet recently, but there has definitely been some behind-the-scenes work going on. One of which should be quite evident already – a new website design! Fresh up front, and cleaned up in the back, the site should both look better and run quicker. As an added bonus to any visitors, I’ve also introduced 15% off to all new newsletter subscribers. If you’re an existing subscriber, don’t worry, you won’t miss out, I’ll be sending out discount codes to you too.

New Prints for Valentine’s Day

It’s that lovey dovey time of year. If you’re searching for a gift, check out the Love section of the site. Along with the popular The Key To My Heart print, I’ve recently added two new mini prints, the perfect size for gifting. They’re both also available framed, in a mounted white box frame, so you can receive them all ready to wrap and give.

First print new to the store is the Geometric Heart print. Inspired by the Solitude print, this would be great for a geometric lover. Available in red or black, and unframed or framed.

Next is the Mini Key to My Heart print, a smaller version of a previous design. A more gift-suitable size for Valentine’s. Available in red or black, and unframed or framed.

To guarantee delivery by Valentine’s Day, I’d suggest ordering no later than February 12th.

Sometimes you have to bring out the big guns

I like to work with reasonable sized prints as I like artwork that stands out. A lot of my prints are on A3 paper size, but I’ll be honest and admit that I probably prefer the bigger A2’s (er this may not mean much to everyone – A2 is about 60cm high basically). When framed and mounted, they just look tops.

Sometimes though the prints get even bigger and that’s when I have to get out the big daddy of my squeegees (see above). I could probably knock someone out with this bad boy. And considering I’m only 5’4″, I can say that printing these bigger prints is almost a full body workout. It’s a good thing I do small print runs.

So which prints have I just knackered myself out on today?

Yeeeeesss, it’s the return of the City Avenue Wall Calendar, now available for 2013! These look pretty impressive if I do say so myself and would make a nice gift. The same options as last year – they’re available in either Slate on white, or Sienna on cream. Head on over to my shop to pick one up.

Spitalfields and introducing a new brand…

So Christmas is coming! Or so the shops and department stores seem to want us to think. You’d think they’d wait til November at least but they’re so excited they just can’t help themselves. Myself, I am, as ever, running a little behind those well-organised retailers, but I can tell you that a new 2013 version of the City Avenue wall calendar will be available in coming weeks.

In other news… if you live in or close to London and fancy seeing some of my prints up close and personal, then come along to Old Spitalfields Market on 10th/11th November. I’ll be personally manning an Enclosed Spaces stall that weekend, as part of We Make London’s section, and will have as many prints on me as I can squeeze in. Spitalfields is a great market, and worth a visit any weekend.

In other news… with an increasing number of designs popping into my head over the past months, I finally put pencil to paper (followed by laser to acrylic, and pliers to silver, and glue to.. etc.) and will shortly be launching my first collection of necklaces for my new jewellery brand, Fletching & Nock. With plenty more ideas rolling around up there, this will be only the first of many pieces available. I think I can safely say that if you liked my Geometric Landscape print collection, you will like this jewellery line.

The ‘official’ launch date will be 21st November, so head on over to the website that day, and it’ll be just in time to pick up something different for your Christmas parties (or Christmas gifts, if you’re feeling a little more altruistic). If you’re champing at the bit to check out the jewellery I will also be offering pre-launch sales of most of the collection at Old Spitalfields Market on Nov 10th/11th (as mentioned above) so do come down and check them out. Any big updates I’ll also share on my Enclosed Spaces blog, Facebook page and Twitter, but as Fletching & Nock is essentially a whole new brand I recommend going over to the website and signing up to the newsletter to be kept in the loop on the launch and any new releases.
